Hernan Cortes

Between 1519-20, during complicated run of events, Spaniards, in fact without a battle, took the rule in Aztec Empire under the command of Hernan Cortes. Because of the resistance of inhabitants, they lose it during the insurection in Tenochtitlan, after what Spaniards started armed conquest, that make the Empire fallen. An end of its existence was made in 1521. in Tenochtitlan, when the aztec ruler Cuauhtemoca was captured.

Conquistadors

were descendands of various social classes. Among numerous of peasants there was some of lower gentry. Their origins were the poorest regions of Spain. Conquests were for them first of all a chance to better their conditions and to enrich. Christian idea wasn't for them, that's clear, the main priority.

THE EXPEDITION

The conquest was financed by private persons, not by the Crown. A capitan going from Spain or Western India first have to gain kings authority and oblige to give for the Crown one of the fifth part of the booty called "quinto real". Every member of the expedition infered a deposit dependent on the capabilities, the richest - a weapon or a horse. Sailors, artisans, religious and officials authorised to take "quinto real" were also members.
