From XIII ct. Aztecs connquered a huge empire with village inhabitants. Their model for imitating was taken from Toltec warriors and they became a people of war. Aztec gods were derived from their traditions or copied from conquered people:
Quetzalcoatl and Tezcatlipoca, Huitzilopochtli - god of sun and war,
Ometeotl - higher god, who couldn't be presented,
Tlaloc-god of rain, storm and vegetation,
Chicomecoatl-goddes of corn
Xipe Tótec-god of spring vegetation,
Tonantzin-goddes mother
